This learning opportunity is designed for Deck Officers, Engineering Officers and Ratings for sea-going operations as well as those restricted to port operations only.

Objective

Requirement for all persons wishing to pursue a career at sea and/or who need to remain in-date/current against this competence.

Outline

  • Minimize the risk of fire and maintain a state of readiness to respond to
    any emergency situations involving fire;
  • Fight and Extinguish Fires;• Control firefighting operations onboard a ship;
  • Organize and train fire parties;
  • Investigate and compile reports on incidents involving shipboard fires; and
  • Inspect and service fire-detection/suppression systems and firefighting equipment.

Prerequisites

  • ABET literacy
  • Be medically fit for sea

 

 

Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

Course Duration: 3 Days
Course Certification: Certificate of Completion
Assessment: Written assessment & Practical evaluation
Completion Exit Level: The competent learner will be able to perform the role a firefighting crew member onboard a Vessel or platform both at sea and alongside.
