For whom

This course is intended for all seafarers who are designated to perform security duties as laid out in the STCW ’78, as amended in 2010 and the ISPS code.

Objective

To train the seafarer in how to maintain the security duties as set out in the ships security plan and how to practically conduct security duties and inspection by use of proper equipment and systems.

Course outcomes

On completion of the course the participant should, amongst others, be able to:

  • Maintain conditions as set out in the ship security plan
  • Recognise security threats and risks
  • Undertake security inspections of the ship
  • Properly use any security equipment and systems that might be found onboard.

Teaching methods include lectures, discussions and case studies.

Assessment and certification

Instructors will assess the candidates through observation and short written exams. Upon successful completion of the courses an internationally recognised STCW certificate will be issued by STC.

Number of participants

The minimum number of participants is 8 and the maximum is 16.

Nortear Training Academy, Luanda, Angola.
